The Christians have a right to defend the holiday, I suppose.
I believe all religious holidays should be practiced behind closed doors, and only by consenting adults.
Halloween is the holiday for us kids.
The weirder thing to me is that when I express my annual bah-humbugs it is to the far larger group of humans - The Consumers - who find my disdain of everything about this "holiday" - from the rabid consumerism to the cheap sentiment including some of the worst songs ever performed - deeply emotionally disturning. I instantly get the stink-eye for being a cynical and heartless creaure. Which, with a smile, I am.
And yes, I too have to let the green&red steam out in my own writing every year.
Thank you.
