I have reached out to a small group with a link to my newsletter in hope of them wanting to keep in touch that way, but also only a few have contacted me so far. (Am I getting a sense that people resent my leaving?)

If I ever found reason to come on there again I would slither in quietly and reach out to the small group who I sense are friends without the quotation marks around it.
