CNN proclaimed that Obamala Harris had “outperformed” Donald Trump on the “debate stage”.
It’s all there in the language.

Under a veneer of seriously debating the supposedly different platforms of their respective parties, it was nothing but a performative gladiator match of deception and hyperbole—peppered with those gotcha smirks and personal jabs so many television viewers delight in.

The projected image on the screen was what counted — the political issues mere ping pong balls to hit back and forth.
That’s entertainment!

Trump remains the boob galoot, absurd pretend insurgent—a perfect incarnation for shopping-mall USA—loaded with racist tropes, violent rhetoric, and stuff to bamboozle faith-blinded christian nationalists.

The Democrats finally had someone to debate Trump who was relatively coherent—someone who promised to support pro-capitalist policies at home and pro-imperialist warmongering policies abroad—someone to fulfill Biden’s promise and get comfy being a “nothing will fundamentally change” neoliberal.

“Goldman Sachs loves me” she proclaimed proudly.
And so does Dick Cheney—who Harris called a “well-respected leader” when he endorsed her.
