My service was to refuse to cooperate with the Vietnam draft in any way whatsoever — didn't register for the death lottery. My sacrifice was in losing a couple of years of my life I could have gone to college or something more useful than avoiding the FBI. Charges were dropped years later. I would have gone the conscientious objector route but at that time I had to state belief in some god and have proof from a priest etc. It is what I would do again — or maybe leave the country — and what I would encourage my sons or any other young men to do.
