My parents being first generation immigrants - Ukrainian/Polish via Austria - I went to 8 years of school at St. George Ukrainian Catholic School in Manhattan. The symbol was everywhere and I suspect to the vast majority of Ukrainians was just a symbol of Ukraine. I learned about the power and danger of nationalism from members of my own family, whose fervor was intense. They had lived through a lot. My father was in the military but I'll never know which affiliations he fought for. It was a mess then, it's a mess now. We need to demand peace — even as Zelensky, intoxicated by the weapons being supplied, and his international superstardom, wants to push on.

Men are dying, weapons manufacturers and their investors are thriving, it's the War Racket on display.
