Exuberant Immediacy

A Poem

On roller coaster rides
and during sex
we sometimes have to close our eyes —
the immediacy is that powerful.

Hurtling towards the ground
and the animal passion in the eye of the other
as close as we can get —
is (almost) too much.

And yet
that’s why we’re here.

Hold on tight.
