Patriotism = ’Love of and devotion to one’s country’.

What can I tell ya. I’m not a patriot. I don’t “love my country.”

Certainly there are things that I love that happen or exist within the demarcated borders of this country—but let’s just say that it and I have always had a complex and problematic relationship.

So I began my visit to this planet and continue to live in this particular place they call the United States of America.
This is how the cosmic stardust willed it and I was not consulted or given a choice.

Much like that other determining circumstance—people being born into situations where their parents deeply subscribe to the mythologies of a particular religion.

And then there are nationalities.
While I am all about the foods and music—and costumes are pretty cool also—otherwise much of the ethnic cultural stuff just didn’t seem important enough; certainly not to kill or die for. Looking at history, obviously I am in a minority.

From looking around it does seem the majority of folks are quite comfortable with whatever they’re served up—rarely thinking themselves outside of the perimeters…
