Writers want to say they piece…and make a few dollars in the process. The more money they make, the more likely they’ll spend more time writing. Like it or not, it’s a Pavlovian thing.

Alas, I think that is poor motivation for writing and why to this reader most of what I see on Medium is content I don't bother going anywhere beyond a snicker at the title.
